Our Work
Our work focuses on designing and conducting qualitative and mixed-methods research that helps organizations understand, demonstrate, and communicate their impact. We partner with nonprofits, public agencies, and mission-driven organizations to examine how programs operate in practice—capturing not only what services are delivered, but how they are experienced by the individuals and communities they are intended to support. Through this work, we help organizations articulate not just what they do, but why it matters.
We conduct research across a range of policy areas, including homelessness and housing, child welfare, mental health, and workforce development. In each of these sectors, programs are often evaluated through outputs and service counts alone. While these metrics are important, they rarely tell the full story. Our work fills that gap by documenting lived experience, identifying pathways of change, and illuminating the conditions under which programs are most effective.
A central purpose of our research is to support organizations in meeting the evolving expectations of funders and stakeholders. Increasingly, funders are looking for evidence of impact that goes beyond quantitative indicators. They want to understand how programs influence participants’ lives, what outcomes are most meaningful, and how those outcomes are achieved. Our research products are designed to meet this need. We help organizations demonstrate program effectiveness in grant proposals, provide funders with concrete and human-centered evidence of outcomes, strengthen annual reports and donor communications, and equip development teams with persuasive narratives.
The topics we study are shaped by the priorities of our partners, but consistently center on understanding experience and impact. For example, we may examine how individuals navigate and experience an employment training program, how families engage with child welfare services, how supportive housing influences stability and well-being, or how access to mental health services affects recovery and daily functioning. Across projects, our focus remains the same: to produce research that is not only methodologically sound, but also meaningful and directly useful for decision-making and storytelling.
Ultimately, our work bridges the gap between data and narrative—transforming lived experience into actionable insight that organizations can use to strengthen programs, secure funding, and communicate their value with clarity and confidence.
